I Wish I Were In London Town

Slip of a Girl alerted me to Julib.com’s contest to win 20 pairs of couture shoes — I prefer vintage, but come on, who can resist that? *wink* To enter the contest you just subscribe to whatever newsletters they have that you think you’d like. Today, in Julib’s London newsletter, I received the following tidbits which make me want to be in good ol’ London town…

spring has finally sprung, so ditch the heavy layers and hunt out a lovely, light sheath. need a little inspiration? head to paper dress for the easter-themed shop-fest vintage bunny tail hunt. there will be burlesque dancers on hand, discounts aplenty, as well as an old-fashioned egg hunt. april 8th. 114-116 curtain road, EC2. old street tube. 020.772.94100. www.paperdress.co.uk

Looking for eggs? Not-so-much. But vintage English fashions? Oh, Mamma!

Speaking of “Mammas”…

mamma mia, here we go again. the abba-singing drag queens of australia’s hit film are hitting the london stage in priscilla: queen of the desert. feathered boas, over-the-top lipsynch-and-dance moments and aussie slang abound. break out your best sequined costume and enjoy the ride. open until september 26th. palace theatre. shaftesbury avenue, W1. piccadilly circus tube. www.palace-theatre.co.uk

I loved The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert — a much better film than To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar (a film with a great title, but less appeal for me). A theatrical version of Priscilla — in London — would rock my world!
